A multi-sensory art exhibition in collaboration with Future Bedouin and the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority
Kaiseraugst (Switzerland), Maastricht (Netherlands), October 30, 2024
dsm-firmenich, innovators in nutrition, health, and beauty, will be exhibiting at Beauty World 2024 from 28 to 30 October at the World Trade Centre in Dubai. With more than 50,000 visitors and almost 2,000 exhibitors representing 139 countries, it is one of the world’s biggest and most-anticipated beauty trade shows.
Enhancing the Beauty World 2024 experience, dsm-firmenich presents “Imagine: The Future of Fragrances in the Middle East” – a multi-sensory exhibition done in collaboration with Future Bedouin and Dubai Culture & Arts Authority. When futuristic art meets perfumery, this crossing of creations and fusion of different artistic mediums will be presented at the illustrious Perfume House at Al Shindagha Museum, the United Arab Emirates’ largest heritage museum located at Al Shindagha Historic District, chronicling Dubai’s evolution from the 19th century to the 1970s. The museum’s Perfume House immerses visitors in Emirati perfumery heritage, showcasing over 70 artefacts, including a 3,000-year-old incense burner from the Saruq Al-Hadid site.
The artist collective, Future Bedouin, crafts bold installations inspired by local Bedouin culture. Started by a creative mind, Future Bedouin’s art is a colorful blend of graphic design, illustration, visuals and large-scale public art installations that interpret Arabic themes and the beauty of the desert through a unique perspective. This exhibition explores themes of Luxury, Spirituality, Modernity, Hospitality, Symbiosis and Fusion through bespoke scents created by dsm-firmenich’s esteemed perfumers. An art piece illustrates twelve new fragrances, and each olfactive experience is accompanied by a visual treat – a true feast for the senses. "This collaboration marks an entirely new and exciting journey in my artistic career, and I felt incredibly happy to immerse myself in the world of scents to design the exhibited creations," shares Future Bedouin. "Fragrances have surrounded us since the dawn of humankind, enriching our everyday lives, and I am deeply grateful to dsm-firmenich for opening this enchanting world to me, allowing my inspiration to flourish even more."
Collaborating with a fragrance house for the very first time, Dubai Culture is the custodian of culture and creativity in Dubai. The Authority is committed to reviving the emirate’s history through modern initiatives, such as the ‘Imagine: The Future of Fragrances in the Middle East’ exhibition, allowing visitors to experience Dubai’s distinct culture in visual and olfactive ways.
“We are very proud to partner with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, an industry first in Dubai, to present this fusion of perfumery and art,” shares Cyril Negrello, Vice President AMET (Africa, Middle East, Turkey) for Perfumery & Beauty at dsm-firmenich. “Future Bedouin is such an amazing artist, and having our fragrances interpreted in this distinct artistic style will certainly enrich the olfactive experience.”
Abdalla Al Obeidli, Manager of Al Shindagha Museum, said: “We are thrilled to host ‘Imagine: The Future of Fragrances in the Middle East’ at Al Shindagha Museum. This collaboration with dsm-firmenich and Future Bedouin embodies our mission to bridge the past with the future, offering visitors a unique sensory experience that merges tradition with modern artistry, and through this exhibition, we aim to honour Dubai’s rich history in fragrance while inspiring new narratives in the art of scent.”
The exhibition is open to the public and will run from 31 October to 24 November.
