DSM intends to appoint Mr. Atzo Nicolaï (1960), currently Member of the Dutch House of Representatives (“Tweede Kamer der Staten-Generaal”) with effect from 1 June 2011.

Royal DSM, the global Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company, today announces the following management changes:
Mr. Jos Schneiders (1951) has decided to retire as President of DSM Netherlands in July 2011 for personal reasons. Mr. Schneiders has had a long and successful career with DSM of almost 35 years in various roles. These include corporate strategy development, the establishment of the DSM Dyneema business, President of DSM Composite Resins, the integration of Roche’s Vitamins and Fine Chemicals business (now DSM Nutritional Products) and President of DSM Nutritional Products’ Animal Nutrition & Health and manufacturing business.
At the request of DSM, Jos Schneiders will remain available for the company on a part-time basis until July 2012. In that period he will transfer his responsibilities as President of DSM Netherlands B.V. and DSM Limburg B.V. to his successor and will execute strategic projects, reporting to Mr. Feike Sijbesma, CEO and Chairman of the DSM Managing Board.
DSM intends to appoint Mr. Atzo Nicolaï (1960), currently Member of the Dutch House of Representatives (“Tweede Kamer der Staten-Generaal”), as Jos Schneiders’ successor, reporting to Mr. Feike Sijbesma. Mr. Nicolaï will join DSM with effect from 1 June 2011. The appointment of Mr. Nicolaï, a Dutch national, as Managing Director in the sense of the Works Councils Act is subject to advice from the relevant Works Councils.
Atzo Nicolaï was a Member of the Dutch House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002. From 2002 to 2006 he was Minister for European Affairs and from 2006 to 2007 he was Minister for Government Reform and Kingdom Relations. In 2007 he returned to the Dutch House of Representatives. He holds a degree in Law and Political Science from the VU University of Amsterdam.
