dsm-firmenich has opened a new pilot plant in Plainsboro, New Jersey, designed to elevate co-creation and collaboration with customers. This new facility is part of the company's Taste, Texture & Health Business Unit, and empowers food and beverage brands to craft enjoyable eating and drinking experiences, that are healthier and more sustainable.
“Our fully equipped pilot plant is a powerful next step in our vision for our Taste, Texture & Health North American headquarters, allowing us to partner even more impactfully with customers to create the next generation of consumer food and beverage experiences.”
- Maurizio Clementi, Executive Vice President Taste for Taste, Texture & Health
Empowering Beverage Production
Equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and capabilities, the pilot plant allows researchers and engineers to test and scale-up new processes and products. By doing so, it enables them to evaluate feasibility, fine-tune parameters, and ensure scalability before increasing production levels. Thus, this facility plays a crucial role in informing and expediting final large-scale production processes.
Specifically tailored to beverage production, the plant supports the manufacturing of a diverse range of drinks, including juices, ready-to-drink coffee and tea, sports drinks, soft drinks, sparkling water, and energy drinks, as well as dairy and plant-based products such as milks, creamers, and protein shakes.
A Unique Design to Foster Collaboration
The plant is designed to serve both industry leaders and early-stage startups. The smart setup of the facility enhances collaboration between dsm-firmenich teams and customers, and it is centrally located next to the development labs and consumer sensory facilities. This set up puts consumers at the heart of the development process, and helps shape the future of taste, texture, and health in food and beverages.
